Students worked cooperatively in &#8220;spirit family groups&#8221; to &#8220;flesh out&#8221; their characters.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/windowonyourpast.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/1991-Oct-First-Burying-Ground-field-trip.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" alt=\"1991 Oct First Burying Ground field trip\" src=\"http:\/\/windowonyourpast.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/1991-Oct-First-Burying-Ground-field-trip.jpg\" width=\"320\" height=\"233\" \/><\/a>\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/windowonyourpast.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/1994-shaving-headstone.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" alt=\"1994 shaving headstone\" src=\"http:\/\/windowonyourpast.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/1994-shaving-headstone.jpg\" width=\"185\" height=\"264\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">A field expedition to the Center Burying Ground across from historic Drury&#8217;s Tavern completed their research. There, they met with the town historian and genealogist Kay Sheldon and found their &#8220;spirit&#8217;s&#8221; headstone and those of the family buried nearby to compare their evidence found to date. Shaving cream was used to highlight engravings.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/windowonyourpast.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/1998-Lucretia-Eddys-silouette.jpeg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone  wp-image-1592\" alt=\"1998 Lucretia Eddy's silouette\" src=\"http:\/\/windowonyourpast.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/1998-Lucretia-Eddys-silouette.jpeg\" width=\"244\" height=\"382\" \/><\/a>\u00a0 \u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/windowonyourpast.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/1998-Oct.-headstone.jpeg.jpeg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone  wp-image-1594\" alt=\"1998 Oct. headstone.jpeg\" src=\"http:\/\/windowonyourpast.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/1998-Oct.-headstone.jpeg.jpeg\" width=\"250\" height=\"377\" \/><\/a>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/windowonyourpast.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/1998-Martha-Rices-silouette.jpeg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone  wp-image-1593\" alt=\"1998 Martha Rice's silouette\" src=\"http:\/\/windowonyourpast.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/1998-Martha-Rices-silouette.jpeg\" width=\"298\" height=\"399\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">As an\u00a0interdisciplinary experience, English classes\u00a0studied\u00a0epitaphs, Science classes discussed the headstone materials and effects of acid rain and lichen over 200 years and Math classes measured headstones and plotted headstones in the cemetery.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/windowonyourpast.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/1992-Oct.-Mapping-the-Burying-Ground.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" alt=\"1992 Oct.
